My Hero Academia Season 8 Episode 5 Review

Alright, let’s be real from the start, I already smelled something off about this episode. The story felt like it wanted to focus on drama rather than progress. Even Studio Bones, which usually delivers fire-level animation, decided to drop a few lazy one-frame shots here and there. One frame ? and Repeated ? From Studio Bones! Not from “One Frame Man” or “The Ending After Begin”! ( i want to cry~)

The middle part tried too hard to be emotional. The whole “sad goodbye” scene for the guy with the “Danger Sense” quirk was clearly meant to hit us in the feels, but honestly... I didn’t even remember his name. It felt forced like the episode was begging us to cry.

Now, credit where it’s due: Shigaraki absolutely owned his moment. His fight with Midoriya was short, but damn, it looked good while it lasted. Still, I wish it had more weight maybe if the pacing hadn’t dragged earlier, this fight could’ve been epic.

Then came the final moments and boom, the energy finally came back. Midoriya’s dark transformation into a villain-like form? That’s the spark this episode desperately needed. It’s the kind of cliffhanger that makes you forget the slow parts and gets you hyped for what’s next.
